A LETTER TO CANADA

A LETTER TO CANADA

A Moment to Share a Story We Could Easily Take for Granted.

It's 2011, Before the jumpsuit. Before the LUXTON.

I'm standing in an impossibly long line-up on a side street in downtown Toronto. It's 6:30 am and I'm 34, just had my first child about a year earlier. What's a girl to do but review everyone's outfit and gear up for a long wait inside the building. And another line after the line.

I'm picking something up that I'm very excited about. A passport for my son Hugh. I can feel the warm sand in my toes and smile to myself thinking of getting away.

Finally, the door seems to open and we all quietly file into the building and into a smaller elevator, jolting to the second floor and of course, into another line.

I can feel the anticipation and nervous energy in the room, people wondering if they've forgotten something critical now that they've finally made it into the 'blue chair' area. The dreaded realization that you left 1 copy of the photograph at home...or a missed signature. Or that the baby in your lap will erupt as your number is called because you left the only snack you thought you had on the kitchen table at home.

I make it in another line for 'pick-ups'. It's delightfully short, I'm ecstatic.

I'm called up to the counter by a very brisk lady and slide my ID across the counter to her. She reviews everything and asks me to check the details of Hugh's passport.

I pick up this little navy book, and feel the hard textured cover, and admire the Royal Coat of Arms in gold foil. Tears spring to my eyes. I open the photo page and let my fingers file through the soft-slippery paper. I'm humbled and in awe that I'm able to give this incredibly significant document to my son. It's peace, protection, beauty, strength, opportunity, freedom, will, and urban all in a 5x3 book.

Years later, I think about that moment often and what this country really means to me and how I can bring those attributes I'm so fiercely proud of into my company.

LUXTON PROTECTS YOU AND MOVES WITH YOU

This year, 99% of our F25 Collection will be made within the borders of Ontario, it is a significant undertaking and investment. With many hands and stories involved, more to come on this soon. I hope you love what we've created, and I hope you share it with others at every opportunity.

Growing LUXTON is not possible without you. It's a real movement, with word of mouth from you being such an important part of it. Let's take it from cult favorite to Canadian powerhouse together. Brag about LUXTON at every opportunity. I love you for it.

On July 8th, we will launch Fall 2025 pre-orders. You'll see the return of bestselling silhouettes. New tones and details. And for those of you who love the story behind each piece, we'll be sharing more soon.

And because every motion at LUXTON begins with considering women...

Today I'm wearing: Tkees slides, Jenny Bird hoops, Left of Friday as a bra and Province of Canada terry pants.

And thinking about these Canadian legends...

Margaret Attwoon, Catherine O'Hara, Joni Mitchell, Sandra Oh, Brandie Wilkerson, Pamela Anderson, Silken Laumann, Dani Kind, Shania Twain, Winnie Harlow. Your mother. My daughter. Her sister.

How lucky we are to live here.
